INNAAS’ mission is to help enterprises improve their business performance by translating and analyzing data. TIM Ventures accessed the world of Big Data with INNAAS through their recent seed investment in the company. Interesting thing: INNAAS won the trust of the Telcom thanks to a football match.

INNAAS’ founder, Simone Di Somma, always believed his dream would come true. Simone, age 29, born in Torre Del Greco (a very characteristic place near Naples), started to work with HP at the age of 22. Unlike most of his peers, Simone was involved in several activities and worked hard to pursue his passion: getting the opportunity to study business management techniques first hand. He travelled abroad, supported and financed by HP, to the Middle East, France, and the USA …-.

In 2009, Luca Iandoli, his former university professor at University Federico II in Naples, told him that a large Italian enterprise had a problem: they had a huge amount of data to collect about their suppliers and they did not know how to organize and translate it in order to choose seven suppliers in the medium-long run. INNAAS’ mission grew from this opportunity.

INNAAS’ activities are focused around Big Data and Real-Time Business Analytics performance. Consumers and entrepreneurs can use the service to gain “valuable information” to improve their business management.

At the age of 26, Di Somma met Giuseppe Ancona, a 32 year old digital engineer who decided to leave a prestigious position in a well-known company to join Di Somma and INNAAS’ project.

In December 2013 they officially founded INNAAS, thanks to a contribution from FILAS, and INNAAS became a university spin-off. Professor Iandoli is still one of their partners.

In 2014, INNAS started to work in #TIM WCAP (Rome) and decided to partner with Telecom Italia. This is when the adventure with Tim Stadium began. “We had to demonstrate our abilities to a small group of leaders” explains Di Somma. “We decided to buy a dataset from an enterprise on our own. During the Italy vs. Costa Rica match, we provided valuable Real-Time information about who was playing better, making it possible to visualize information on a monitor using a data visualization technique resembling stock exchange data. Telecom leaders watched both the match and our performance evaluation system in real time. They really liked INNAAS’ system and decided to buy our project in order to enhance the Tim Stadium Data Platform.”

Apart from TIM Stadium, INNAAS is also engaged in several other areas: financial data, performance and data driven innovation.

Nowadays the company is trying to internationalize, and although it is young, it’s looking for new investors in London and New York. Simone Di Somma is very happy about TIM Ventures’ choice to invest in his startup because as he says, “We speak their language, and we know what they want.”
