I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a bet going on to see who can get more souls — God or the Devil.

So what is this game I’m talking about?

The test of humanity’s faith.

When I’m talking about God, its just an arbitrary name I use to refer to a greater power, it can be universe, love, collective consciousness, Buddha or whatever else you want to call it. And Devil thus refers to the darker side or that with which we refer to as evil.

It’s really just a game to see if humanity can stay in the light despite suffering, traumas, fears, and all the negativity and hardships life has to give. A test to see how strong the faith really is, or is it just lip service.

We were created to embody both light and darkness. Human has the capacity to do the greatest good and love and also the capacity to become the greatest evil. Everyone one of us has the potential to become a saint or a serial killer. Hence this game between God and Devil is to see givf free will, what would we choose.

Upping the Stakes

What’s a game without some obstacles and challenges. Throw in tragedies, natural disasters, loss, illness and violence into the mix, can we still live up to our potential? or do we sink into the darkness and fall from grace?

Faith without test, is no faith at all. It’s easy to talk love when everything in your life is peachy, knock you down a few times and this become the true test of faith. If one can live through all those difficulties and come out the other side still fully devoted and loving with their faith, then we’ve passed with flying colors. But look at the world around us, with so much depression, hopelessness, deception, violence and everything else, it appears we are losing the battle good vs evil.

It’s cruel isn’t it…?

We are simply chess pieces in a game. Even the sufferings of man are just a game in the bigger picture of things. Sometimes, suffering is necessary in order for us to see our real potentials or remind us of what’s really important. When things are good, we often get big headed and forget about the little things and blessings we have. Its really easy to start taking things for granted and we start exhibiting traits of narcissistic entitlement.

What doesn’t kill us only makes us stronger?

One of the truly admirable traits of human beings is our ability to create beautiful things from the darkest of times. Even in times of famine, war, disasters and all, we are also able to see the kindest gestures from strangers and the banding together of groups of people caring from the less fortunate.

The Epic Battle — Who will win this game?

I’m still hopeful that we will find our way back to the light. Despite all the increasing segregation and fear that we see around the world these days. Sometimes, it takes a little shock to the system before we wake up. When we hit rock bottom, there’s no where go but up!

I’m fully aware of the darkness within, but I’ve also seen the goodness in people. So it really just comes down to choice? Which side will you walk toward?
