The last piece of work published at Assemblage, before earlier this week, was on April 5, 2021. At that time, I put all of my publications on hiatus because my regular work was just too busy to keep up with the intake and the wait time was not respectful of the writers I’ve worked with for so many years, off and on. But today, Assemblage is back.

Loose Words, our stand-alone poetry publication, returned to Medium on August 21, 2021. In short, the influx of poetry is easier to edit and publish because it is shorter than traditional essays. But as I ramped back up our flow on Loose Words (we still have not opened for new poets again), I started to miss Assemblage more and more.

For those of you new to Medium, Assemblage is actually the spawn of two of my publications that existed on Medium long ago — Redoubtable and Uncalendared. Assemblage started as an off-Medium blog of its own, a countermeasure to what was going on at Medium at the time (or that is how I perceived it).

The original incantation of Assemblage also had a one-season podcast. But In October of 2019, I moved Assemblage onto Medium, the very site I created the publication to get away from. It’s been a long and circuitous ride.
