Who doesn’t love a good old fashioned quarantine? A cold, the flu, pneumonia… I’ve had them all and they’re awful. What can be equally painful is missing out on parties and concerts, movies and comedy open mics. Ha! No one misses out on comedy open mics.
At least during this current worldwide health crisis, everything fun is shut down so no one is missing out on anything. What a relief! There’s a strange calm and peace inside me that feels like the opposite of anxiety. Weird.
A lot of people get bored almost immediately. They don’t understand or know what books are and proudly declare, “I don’t read”, while the rest of us are thrilled that, “…there was time now. There was all the time I needed!” like our bibliophile brother Burgess Meredith in that brilliant Twilight Zone episode, Time Enough at Last.
