I ran out of petals today
the moon and its charms
disarmed you
yes
but from another pen
today

I am left
bereft
of lotus tongue

for grit is my grace
a fitting intoxicant
my oxygen forgotten
and not what you need
today

My ability to write creatively has been crushed as we all face the unknown together. Writing this poem helped, which reminded me I don’t work well when I try to sit down and contrive something. Writing has to come directly from my emotions in the moment.
