Is Suicide An Option?
It shouldn’t be even a question!
Yesterday I got the news of a friend’s demise.
38 is a rather young age to die. I didn’t know what exactly happened to her at the time. She was not a close friend, but I have known her since 3rd grade.
After finishing high school, my connection to this friend was as one of the connections on my Facebook friend list and as one of the members of our school’s WhatsApp group.
After hearing the news of her passing, my mind went back to the time when we were just a couple of 8-year-olds having so much fun goofing up and giggling without a care of what others thought.
I don’t remember the interactions with her much after that. We were in the same class and of course, we talked many times, but nothing sticks in my memory.
Today, I came to know that her death was the result of suicide. The news of the suicide was harder for me to believe than the news of her passing.
What went so wrong that she thought choosing death was the better option, the only option? Couldn’t she have talked to someone? Did she not think about her daughter?
