I awoke to a loud and piercing siren
Window open to the cool air of spring
I lay eyes open
Awake to the pandemonium
Blankets wrap me safe, a cocooning,
a sanctuary from the world at large
It passes, the normal bustle of the boulevard
Quiet again, city lockdown
Birds chirping,
more songs to utter
There is a weighty uncertainty
we all carry, hunched backs
Eyes to the news, eyes to God
Will we see the beauty
in this breakdown?
