No One Even Knows You Are There

A Poem

Emotionally destitute
A long-forgotten vestige
of a real man
Harboring ill-thought
and transcendent dismay
Only one step away from
complete isolation

A need to withdraw
not necessarily to go inward
but to go away
and forego the work
in favor of personal abandonment

One can say goodbye to themselves
and live life as a shadow
No words
Only dark movement
and only as a follower
of a real being

Fading away
until there is no need
for existence
Because as a shadow
no one even
knows you are there
