Welcome back, readers! In today’s article, we’re going to briefly go over ASSEMBLE’s latest partner, TOOMICS. They’re a well-established webtoon provider that continues to grow. TOOMICS
TOOMICS started its official service in May 2015 under the name Jamtoon, a member of M-Toon. In December 2015, M-Toon was acquired. Later, in September of 2016, Jamtoon was renamed TOOMICS and adopted the slogan, “Anytime, anywhere, enjoy webtoons with TOOMICS.” As of October 2017, TOOMICS had 8.5 million members, 800 stories, and 100 million monthly PVs.
TOOMICS has emerged as a leading webtoon platform. In fact, it was ranked as one of the most popular apps on the Google Play store by users. TOOMICS then released its monthly TOOMICS service in March 2018 which reached 1 million views in five days. According to a WiseApp survey last year, TOOMICS ranked 9th in the real-world ranking of webtoon apps.
Although TOOMICS is considered a webtoon latecomer, thanks to the continuous supply and demand of exclusive webtoons and the simultaneous broadcasting of TV commercials and billboard advertisements, it has grown rapidly in a short period of time. It is considered to be at the same level as Resin Comics and Toptoon, and its popularity continues to grow.
By introducing the monthly serial system, “Monthly TOOMICS” in March 2018, TOOMICS became the first company to successfully establish the weekly serial, ten-day serial, and monthly serial system before other webtoon platforms. In April 2018, it wanted to be a platform that captivated not only male readers but also female readers. To that end, they established the “TOOWICS” category where female-centered webtoons were the main focus.
TOOMICS is a partially paid-based webtoon platform. There are two main types of webtoons: paid or free. If you want to see the webtoons right away, you can spend coins and access them (paid webtoons). However, if you want to see the webtoon for free, you should wait 7–10 days after it’s been published, and then you can check it out for free. Most of the webtoons in the “all ages” category are free while most of the adult webtoons or completed webtoons are in the paid category. To reduce the burden on members who read paid webtoons, TOOMICS is continuously holding coin discount events or coin gift events.
