Following the release of the very first iPhone model in 2007, Apple was consistent in their technological trailblazing. They expanded their horizons by adding iPhone 3G to the collection, adding connectivity and the launch of App Store. They also presented two color choices: black and white. The ‘S’ family arrived in 2009, and the iPhone 3GS was released, a speedier model compared to the previous iPhone 3G, adding in a copy and paste feature.

Apple didn’t stop there — in the same year, the iPhone 4 arrived and expanded from its original 8 and 16GB storage and raised it to 16 and 32GB. They traded the rounded edges for a rectangle exterior, and upgraded their camera features by adding a 5.0 MP rear camera and introducing to the world the front camera feature. In October of the following year, the iPhone 4s was released with a higher storage capacity of 64GB.

September 2016 drew heat as it marked the release of iPhone 7 — with a dual camera and water and dust resistant features, it became an instant hit. It also came in with a new capacitive static home button packed with 256GB of storage. However, the removal of audio jack received criticisms for it is perhaps just a tactic to bolster the sale of iPhone wireless headphone products.

After all these, it seems that the best is yet to come as the whole world anticipates for the release of iPhone 8 series and iPhone X. The next series will be coming with one of the longest awaited features of iPhones: the addition of wireless charging.

Moreover, home button will no longer be included due to the new all-glass phone feature, where the Touch ID sensor will also be replaced with Facial Recognition System. The technology will rely on an array of projected infrared dots to detect depth through a TrueDepth Camera.

A decade down and more to go, Apple did not disappoint with their breakthroughs in the market, myriad of technological advancements and innovative twists. This time, with their sneak peaks of their iPhone 8 series and iPhone X, they look to be making sure that they win the world- again- and just keep on getting better. All of this from the simple black box-looking cellular phone where all this iconic smartphones evolved from, we’re up to see greater things from Apple’s newly revealed installments- iPhone 8 and iPhone X.
