In the Duterte Administration’s gambit to improve the delivery of government services and to eradicate red tape, the President on Monday signed into law the Philippine System Identification Act.
This system will consolidate all Government IDs into a single national identification card. Each citizen, natural born and naturalized, shall be assigned one ID number.
While Social Weather Survey (SWS) recorded a 73 percent public approval for this newly-signed law, critics remain skeptical as they fear for the country’s security and the risk of infringing the people’s privacy.
