How to send ETH from Coinbase to MetaMask
In this article, we will be explaining how to send Etherum from your Coinbase account to your MetaMask wallet. If you haven't downloaded a MetaMask wallet yet then check out our previous article below explaining how to set up a new wallet.
STEP 1 | Log into Coinbase
The first step is to make sure you are logged into your Coinbase account. Once logged in head to “portfolio” where you will find all your current balances.
Select ‘Ethereum’ and then head to the top right-hand corner and select “Send/Receive”.
STEP 2 | Enter the amount you want to send
You will be greeted with a pop-up box. First, add the amount of ETH you wish to send.
STEP 3 | Enter your MetaMask address
Now you need to enter the sending address where you want to receive your ETH. In this case, it will be your MetaMask address which if you don't already know can be easily located by logging into your MetaMask wallet.
Once logged in, click at the top where it says “Account”. This will automatically copy your Eth address to your clipboard ready to paste in Coinbase.
STEP 4 | Enter your ETH address
Head back to Coinbase and in the box where it says “To” paste your ETH address. Then press “Continue”.
STEP 5 | Confirm transaction details
Check the details of your transaction paying special attention to making sure the receiving address is correct. If you have entered an incorrect ETH address it could result in loss of funds so it’s important to double-check.
Once done, press “Send now”.
STEP 6 | Enter 2FA code
Next, you will most likely be presented with an added security step in the form of 2FA. If you set up your 2FA to be linked to your phone number, here you will receive a code via SMS which you will need to input.
If you have set up 2FA to be linked to an authenticator like ‘Google Authenticator’ then input your 2FA code now.
STEP 7 | Confirm and wait for your ETH to arrive in your MetaMask
Congrats, you have successfully sent ETH from your Coinbase Account to your MetaMask wallet.
STEP 8 | Wait for ETH to arrive in your MetaMask
Now all you have to do is wait for the ETH to arrive in your MetaMask wallet. Depending on network congestion this could take anywhere from a few minutes to 10–20minutes. So if it doesn't arrive straight away, don’t worry.
Head over to your MetaMask wallet and click on “Activity”. Here you will be able to confirm when your ETH has arrived.
