The Astar Foundation is very excited to announce the first web3 hackathon on Astar sponsored by Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota).

Toyota web3 Hackathon

HAKUHODO KEY3, the company co-founded by Astar and HAKUHODO, one of the largest advertising companies in Japan, will host a web3 hackathon sponsored by Toyota. Participants will attend a kick-off event on February 25 and have until March 18 to complete their products. The first round of judging will be held on March 23, and groups that pass the judging will be able to participate in the pitch event on March 25.

Astar Foundation sponsors this hackathon with $75k and web3 Foundation with $25k. The $100k will be used as a reward for winning projects chosen by Toyota, Astar Foundation, web3 Foundation, Alchemy, and HAKUHODO KEY3.

Toyota, as the largest car company in the world in terms of sold cars, has more than 330,000 employees across the globe. We are looking for intra-company DAO support tools for this hackathon which Toyota employees may actually use in the future. We are looking for potential products, not only for PoC within Toyota, but also for scaling to external parties.

Hackathon Theme

Development of a DAO support tool for in-house projects.

DAO is an abbreviation for “Decentralized Autonomous Organization”. By setting its own rules through smart contracts on the blockchain, the organization can be managed and operated transparently with the cooperation of many people. Anyone with access to the Internet can participate in this type of organization, and anyone with the tokens used by each organization can participate in decision-making.

In recent years, companies have been facing the challenge of increasing the workload on managers due to an increase in business decision-making and team member management. Therefore, we decided on the theme of developing a DAO support tool for companies, based on our belief that if we could manage projects as a DAO, an organization in which team members can operate autonomously and decision-making is distributed, we could reduce the manager’s workload and at the same time help team members improve the impact that team members have on company growth.

Quote From Sota Watanabe, the founder of Astar Network

“Needless to say, Toyota is the largest company in Japan and one of the world’s leading international companies. We are very excited to be hosting the web3 Hackathon on Astar with Toyota. During the event, we aim to develop the first PoC DAO tool for Toyota’s employees If a good tool is produced, Toyota employees will interact daily with products on Astar Network. Sometime in the future, I think we will see blockchain integrations in cars. Today, we are still in the exploratory stage, but very excited about the various possibilities.”

Why Should You Pay Attention?

This is Toyota’s first web3 hackathon.
Toyota is looking to web3 to support its vision of improving the company’s operations. This hackathon is an initial step in its process. To make the hackathon successful, Astar Foundation and HAKUHODO KEY3 are collaborating to unite Japan’s leading L1 blockchain with the ability to scale with enterprise relationships and web3 engineers.

This hackathon is held on Astar Network.
Participants in the hackathon will develop all of their products on Astar Network. Seventy applications have already been developed on Astar’s reliable blockchain in only 10 months. Astar Network will provide the environment for developers and will also be responsible for product development support.
