Overview

As promised during our latest community AMA, we want to give you an overview of the roadmap for the Astar ecosystem. Most of you already know that the Astar ecosystem contains two main networks: Shiden connected as a parachain on Kusama and Astar connected as a parachain on Polkadot.

Shiden is the canary network of Astar and will have all the latest features we are developing. Astar acts as a more mature L1 blockchain with all finished features. The milestones in this article are for Shiden and Astar! New features always go first to Shiden and are thoroughly tested before implementing them on the Astar mainnet.

This article will give an overview of our upcoming milestones for 2022. At the end of each quarter, there will be a follow-up article. The article will explain the achievements and developments of each milestone set upfront.

Roadmap

Astar roadmap gives a broad overview of all aspects of an upcoming product: goals, timeline, features, resources, etc. The roadmap indicates what the development team is building, what we are solving, and the new product's business goals.

The complete roadmap includes all Astar chains, meaning these features are first deployed in our canary network Shiden. After all acceptance criteria are met, the deployment will go to the Astar mainnet.

About Astar

Astar Network (previously known as Plasm) is a dApp hub on Polkadot that supports Ethereum, WebAssembly, and layer 2 solutions like ZK Rollups. Astar aims to be a multi-chain smart contract platform that will support multiple blockchains and virtual machines. Polkadot Relay Chain doesn't support smart contracts. That's why it's important for the ecosystem to have a parachain that enables this for all developers who want to build in the Polkadot ecosystem. Astar is here to provide the best solution for all developers by supporting EVM and making a parachain where EVM and WASM smart contracts can co-exist and communicate with each other.
