New HRMP Channels Have Opened Between Moonriver and Shiden Network
Throughout the history of blockchains, interoperability and multi-chain applications are considered the holy grails of Web 3.0. With the Polkadot ecosystem of parachains and cross-consensus messaging (XCM), not only do we have multi-chain assets, but we can also leverage functional interoperability. At Astar Network, we believe that this is the key to creating the next generation of innovative dApps and further progressing Web3.0. By opening the latest HRMP channel with Moonriver we began a new chapter in our mission to bootstrap Shiden WASM.
Starting today, it is possible to transfer MOVR from Moonriver to Shiden Network through our portal and use it in dApps built on top of Shiden Network. SDN is also available to be used in the dApps built on top of Moonriver.
Value for Astar ecosystem
By opening more channels on Shiden Network, we are preparing to bootstrap the launch of WASM projects. Recently we announced Swanky Suite, the all-in-one tool for WASM smart contract developers on Polkadot and Kusama. It brings the various tools of the WASM ecosystem into a single interface, making it easy for developers to build the next generation of smart contracts.
Now that we are adding MOVR as an XC20 asset on Shiden Network, there is new liquidity that can be used in our EVM environment as well as natively with WASM smart contracts. This liquidity hub of XC20s is vital to developers using Swanky Suite to build innovative dApps on Shiden Network today (and later Astar Network). More information regarding our WASM bootstrap strategy for Shiden will be released soon.
Astar XCM vision
Astar CTO, Hoon Kim, wrote an extended view about our vision for XCM. To understand Astar’s road to becoming the innovation hub on Polkadot, check out: part I, part II, and part III of The Astar Vision.
Imagine if there is a utility smart contract that is dedicated to sending XCM calls for specific extrinsics on a parachain deployed on Astar Network, and all developers have to do is load from that contract to fully utilize what the parachain can offer to their dApp. With the right tools, the right mind, and progress from the ecosystem, we believe that this will be the future of dApps in a heterogeneous network of blockchains. Moonbeam is an Ethereum-compatible smart contract platform on the Polkadot network that makes it easy to build natively interoperable applications. This Ethereum compatibility allows developers to deploy existing Solidity smart contracts and DApp frontends to Moonbeam with minimal changes. Like Moonriver, its sister parachain on Kusama, Moonbeam is expected to accumulate developer and user activity building DApps and protocols on the network. As a parachain on the Polkadot network, Moonbeam benefits from the shared security of the Polkadot Relay Chain and integrations with other chains that are connected to Polkadot.
About Shiden Network
Shiden Network — the Innovation Hub on Kusama. Shiden Network supports the building of dApps with EVM and WASM smart contracts and offers developers true interoperability with cross-consensus messaging (XCM). We are made by developers and for developers. Shiden’s unique Build2Earn model empowers developers to get paid through a dApp staking mechanism for the code they write and dApps they build.
Shiden’s vibrant ecosystem has become Kusama’s leading Parachain globally, supported by all major exchanges and tier 1 VCs. Astar offers the flexibility of all Ethereum and WASM toolings for developers to start building their dApps. To accelerate growth on Polkadot and Kusama Networks, Astar SpaceLabs offers an Incubation Hub for top TVL dApps.
