I loved Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi because it was a film that transcended itself. The basic premise, the duality, and the importance of maintaining the balance went beyond the screen and divided fans into two sides. It seems that there was no middle ground: either you love it, or you hate it. It wasn’t a perfect movie and therefore was heavily criticized, but I get the impression that few have understood its successes and the true message of the film. I hope to explain this through the analysis of Luke Skywalker, one of the most damaged characters, accused even by the actor himself (Mark Hamill) of being unfaithful to the image he evoked during the original trilogy.

How can it be that the most enthusiastic Jedi wanted to ruin everything he achieved in these years? Is this vision consistent with the character of the first films?

To begin with, we know that the Jedi religion is based on Buddhist teachings. The path of the aspirant to Jedi is basically a path to spiritual awakening. Some of them fail and become Siths, worshiping the dark side of the Force. On the other hand, the Jedi who end up transcending reach the Buddhic level…
