Education technology company Astrid Education today launched a campaign offering a free online English Summer School for all kids in Vietnam during the country’s biggest Covid-19 outbreak so far. The campaign will be rolled out in collaboration with POPS Kids, the leading educational and entertainment platform for children in South East Asia.

STOCKHOLM / HO CHI MINH CITY, June 17, 2021 — Vietnam is currently experiencing a record high of new Covid cases, after having successfully kept the virus at bay throughout the pandemic. The resurgence has resulted in strict lockdowns, severely impacting access to education for millions of children all over the country. To enable kids and teens to continue learning during this period, Astrid has created a free digital English Summer School, allowing students to practice their English speaking skills from their own homes — support usually offered by private tutors and English Centers.

John Kristensen, Co-Founder of Astrid, says: “The end goal of learning any language is being able to communicate effectively. English speaking skills is what everyone wants and needs in a global economy. However, this practical skill is usually only accessible to families who are able to send their children to study abroad or can afford expensive local solutions. With Astrid’s voice-based and AI-powered learning model, children can learn to speak English confidently and fluently without leaving their homes.

The free digital English Summer School combines Astrid’s mobile app with award-winning content from Waterbear Network that revolves around engaging stories about our natural world. Each week the children will learn about a different theme, travel across continents, and learn about the rich and varied world we live in. By initiating a collaboration with POPS Kids, trusted by millions of parents and kids, Astrid can bring the free digital English Summer School to a wider audience. The campaign will be presented on POPS Kids different platforms, under the category ‘Edutainment’.

Joe Flory, Head of Content at Astrid, put together the English Summer School syllabus. He says: “We hope to bring an exciting summer adventure to the children affected by the pandemic. Using their own devices, they will be able to learn, play, and discover interesting things about our natural world, while improving and enhancing their English speaking ability.

With attractive content and interesting learning paths and methods, combining technology and meaningful stories, Astrid’s English Summer School will bring children in Vietnam a great learning experience. Besides the fact that children can learn to speak English fluently with confidence, they can also explore, discover and learn about our natural world during the summer days spent at home with their families to join hands in epidemic prevention.
