The benefits of data science are evident for all to see. Not only does it equip you with the tools and techniques to make better business decisions, the predictive power of analytics also allows you to determine future outcomes — something that can prove to be crucial to businesses. Despite all these advantages, data science is a touchy topic for many businesses.

In this article, we attempt to take down some of these notions and give a much clearer picture of what data science really is. Here are 5 of the most common myths or misconceptions in data science, and why are absolutely wrong

Myth #1: Data science is exclusively for experts in statistics and mathematics.

Reality: Cross-disciplinary experts with curiosity to learn new things make better data scientists.

Myth #2: Data Science is Science.

Reality: It’s a mix of art and Science.

Myth #3: It is hard to find Data Science resource for your organization.

Reality: Anyone can learn and be a good Data Scientist.

Myth #4: Data Science is all about complex coding using different tools.

Reality: Data Science is all about understanding and solving problems.

Myth #5: Data Scientists will be replaced by Artificial Intelligence soon.

Reality: Machines don’t ask questions of data. Machines don’t convince people. Machines don’t understand the ‘why’. Machines don’t have intuition. At least, not yet.
