Those Barb Wire Covers by Adam Hughes

These Barb Wire covers by Adam Hughes put the GRRR in groin kick and make me smile and weep a little. Have a look.

Poised for a reboot next July, Dark Horse is bringing back the buxom Barbara Kopetski aka Barb Wire, a bar owner slash bounty hunter who really wouldn’t be doing this gig if she didn’t enjoy kicking ass so much to pay her bills.

With the recent wave of strong female leads in comics and movies, it makes sense to bring back Barb Wire, a character who was kicking ass way before Furiosa learned to drive. Or at least that’s what I’m told, because I’ve never read one of her comic books.

I’m digging Hughes’ work here specially portraying the character as a badass who is also vulnerable and can bleed. Way different stuff than the more glitzy covers he’s been churning out for Star Wars.

The team behind the book includes Barb’s original creator Chris Warner along with pencils by Pat Olliffe, inks by Tom Nguyen and colors by Gabe Eltaeb. The first issue comes out on July 1st.
