Minutes to Midnight

It’s only a few weeks before The Crossings Church: Collinsville will be opening its services to the people of Collinsville, Illinois.

It’s only a few more weeks of sitting comfortably in a church of 500 souls to a church of 40.

It’s only 502 hours (from the time of this writing) until a small handful of us sinners will be leading a ministry to reach people just like us from a hotel and our homes.

There are only so many moments of lasts left before we’re standing here. Many of our members are already living here. Others are waiting for college to start and then they’ll be members of SiUE’s student population. We’re all still finding jobs and meeting people; but even though we are all in different stages of life, there is still one thing we have in common.

That’s Jesus Christ —

His sacrifice has called us here. Many of us to be closer to our families. Some of us to start new and support a growing opportunity. Though ultimately we’re here for one thing and one thing alone. To commit and show the true glory of who Christ is.

He is our strong and mighty fortress, our savior and redeemer. He reached into the depths of hell to pull our souls away from the clutches of sin. Not that we will ever stop being sinful this side of heaven; we all have been called for one purpose.

Jesus Christ.

And though I am weak. I have made mistakes. I am prideful, selfish, and lazy at times — God remains the same and everyone should know that.

So here we are Collinsville. I hardly know you, but I love you already.
