Facing COVID-19 together

At-Bay is built on a community of thousands of small businesses and local governments. We know that COVID-19 is straining many of you like never before. As your insurer, we believe it is our responsibility to help you weather this storm.

We usually reach out to you with our security monitoring service. We let you know that you have a new vulnerability that an attacker can exploit, and help you fix it. COVID-19 was followed with increased attacks and increased vulnerability, with organizations moving to work from home.

But for many businesses, the first concern is being able to make payroll. With no economic activity and no revenues, cash is short. The little that we can do is to extend our standard payment terms from 30 days to 90 days for all small businesses in our portfolio. We hope that by giving you more budget flexibility, it makes some of the tough decisions you are facing a little bit easier. We hope that other insurers will join us in this effort, so that collectively we can support the small business community.

More information about the payment extension can be found in the resources section of our website.

Remote work opening new vulnerabilities

We also urge you to remain vigilant of hackers taking advantage of the pandemic. Network security has never been more important or challenging, with most companies shifting to an entirely remote workforce. Rest assured that your remote workforce is covered by our cyber insurance policy, but we want to help you mitigate risk before an attack happens.

Our security team has enhanced the frequency and depth of our monitoring scans. In the past month, we discovered that almost 2% of companies in our portfolio inadvertently opened new vulnerabilities in their network while making adjustments to accommodate their remote workforce. After detecting the new vulnerabilities, our security team notified the affected clients with steps to mitigate the threat. We will maintain this heightened state as the Shelter In Place persists.

Our security team created a list of best practices for network management of a remote workforce, which can be found here.

These are uncertain, complex times, but we’re in this together. Our commitment to each one of you is steadfast — we intend to be your partner for the long-haul.
