Crain’s Chicago Business recently announced its 2015 list of ‘Coolest Offices’ in Chicago. If you’re lucky enough to work in one of these awesome-looking environments, you’ll want a home to match. And a super-convenient commute wouldn’t hurt either, right?

Let’s take a look at Crain’s judges’ pick, fast-growing tech firm, Gogo.

What They Do

Gogo, is a leading global provider of in-flight Internet, entertainment, text messaging, voice, and connected aircraft services. The firm moved to 111 North Canal along the western edge of Chicago’s Loop in June 2015.

Who Works There

View toward 111 North Canal from the Fulton River District. See the little Gogo logo on the red brick building?

According to Gogo’s website, “the job opportunities…blend cutting-edge technology with a unique creative voice across all careers — Technology, eCommerce, Engineering, Software Development, Marketing, Operations, and more.”

But according to insiders, one of the big pluses of working for this fast-growing firm is the ability to create solutions that impact the entire organization rather than a narrow department or area. There’s also room to move around if you become interested in another functional area over time.

Where to Live

Gogo’s office is Union and Ogilivie Station-adjacent, so I’d imagine suburban job-seekers are very welcome there. But if uber-convenience and city-living are more your cup of tea, consider these condo buildings when you’re looking to buy:

659 West Randolph (RD659): 6-minute walk

This 237-unit condo building with concrete soft lofts was finished in 2008. It’s close to Gogo’s office AND Randolph Street’s restaurant row. So when you’re not working, you’ll enjoy brunches at Au Cheval, Little Goat Diner (you can see both from some north or west-facing units). Find work-life balance in the RD659’s outdoor pool, party room, or fitness center. Precious few units here have it the market in the past year, but one-bedroom prices have tended to range from $270,000 to $300,000.

226 North Clinton (Clinton Street Lofts): 6-minute walk

Loft-lovers unite! True timber lofts are the name of the game in this Fulton River District condo property. Pet lovers abound; these dog owning neighbors know each other through their pooches. Recent offering here? This one-bedroom loft with parking for $275,000.

125 N Jefferson (Park Alexandria): 8-minute walk

Looking for a West Loop-ish location but not a loft? This more traditional high-rise has the amenities and style you may be looking for. At the time of this post, this 1,000+ SF one-bedroom+den unit is on the market for $295,000.
