A Day in the Life of a Delivery Team

Our delivery teams are the backbone of AptDeco. These guys work from 7am to 8pm, five days a week, dealing with the many unforeseeable factors that go into delivering furniture to every corner of New York City. Parallel parking a large van and fitting large pieces of furniture through narrow hallways and up four floor walk-ups is just another part of their day.

We decided to join Nelson and Bulant on their daily route so we could really get an understanding of how these guys manage to transport this furniture all over the city.

They arrive at our warehouse in Queens first thing in the morning and start up the van. Their first pick up of the day is in Jamaica. They stop and get some iced coffee on the way, while they shoot a text to the first customer of the day to let them know that they’re on their way (and maybe give him a bit more time to wake up).

They get all the necessary materials for this pick up and go knock on the seller’s door to pick up two lamps.

Before you’d know it, the lamps are all wrapped up, secured, and ready to go! This was an easy one!

The next stop is out in Ridgewood. This seller was nice enough to bring out the piece beforehand.

They inspect the piece, just to make sure that it’s exactly as described in the listing.

It’s wrapped up and they’re on to the next one! So far this morning has been easier than usual.

Now it’s time to drop off those lamps they picked up earlier. This buyer is in Astoria, Queens.

The team is in and out of there in a matter of minutes and the buyer was extremely satisfied with her purchase!

Just a quick drive down to Fort Greene and the team is ready to deliver a sofa they had picked up the night before.

Starting to look like this might be a bit of a challenge… nothing they can’t handle, though!

Fits like a glove! The rest of this delivery should be easy.

Uh oh, spoke too soon. How are they going to make that work?

They’re professionals, that’s how! Or they’re magic. We’re starting to think it’s the latter.

Unveiling the buyer’s new sofa! The buyer is very happy with the purchase and impressed at how Nelson and Bulant did everything they could to get it delivered.

Off to Manhattan! The guys were lucky enough to avoid the traffic for the most of the day, but they had to face it at some point!

Quickest pick up yet! Bulant watches the van so they don’t get a ticket and Nelson goes to inspect the desk, wrap it up, and carry it down himself. Talk about efficiency!

The tight narrow hallways of this Upper East Side building made it tough for the next pick up. Nelson and Bulant managed to get this heavy dresser out unharmed.

Last stop of the day! Nelson and Bulant just need to drop this dresser off in Park Slope. The stairway is tight, but luckily it’s just a first floor walk up.

And just like that, the team had finished the route of the day. These guys really are the heart and soul of AptDeco. Without their dedication and hard work, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
