Designing a home office can be tough, especially if you have a small space. You’ve essentially got to cram your whole work area into one tiny spot in your home. That means one place not just for your desk and chair, but also for all your notes, files, supplies, and, of course, your board filled with all your awesome ideas and brainstorms.

It may not seem like it but sometimes a small space is actually easier to work with when putting together an office area. For starters, there’s less room for clutter, so you’re forced to keep a neat space. This means finding things easier and overall less stuff that you probably didn’t need anyway.

Get on board with your small space and let us show you how to create an office in just about any small space.

Corner Office

Corners are often wasted space. Angle a desk into the corner to make the most of that unused space. Add triangular shaped shelves above to really make it feel like your little corner office.

Closet Office

Minimalists with a somewhat empty closet can use that area for an office. Turning a closet into an office may seem like a crazy idea at first, but with a little ingenuity, you can convert it into the ideal office space. Even better — leave the door on and you can hide your office at a moment’s notice.

Alcove Office

It seems like every place has a random wall that creates a little nook area that seems to go unused. With the right layout, you can turn that alcove area into an office space. Tuck a desk into that open space, set a chair there and you’re ready to get to work.

Wall Office

Long, straight walls present their own opportunities for an office area. Use narrow shelves and a narrow desk to create an office space that’s set off from the rest of the room, but without taking up a large footprint.

Hidden Furniture Office

Cabinet Desk

Sometimes there really is very little you can do to set up an office space. Or maybe you are bent on having something completely out of sight. In these cases, look into purchasing a piece of furniture that does double duty. A hutch or armoire with a desk that folds away will do just right.
