Chicago houses an unparalleled assortment of talents in the realms of art, music, and poetry. I hope to capture just a slice of what the spaces in this city has to offer by discussing a couple of my favorite open mics I used to attend fairly regularly.

Listen to my podcast here!

Word Play: Every Tuesday at 1180 N. Milwaukee Ave., begins at 6pm. Geared towards late teens/early 20’s. Fairly broad open mic that encourages musical performance and slam poetry from all creatives.

Big Kid Slam: Every last Friday of the month at Que4 Radio (2643 W Chicago Ave), begins at 8pm. Open mic geared towards older creatives. Poets compete in a slam for a $50 piggy bank among some other random and eccentric prizes.
