ATCEMS Recruiting hosted a Meet-A-Medic Coffee Chat at local Starbucks, allowing customers and attendees to meet our medics, chat about not only careers within ATCEMS, but also community resources our department provides. The store manager let the medics have some fun and hop into the drive-thru window, where our medics passed out coffee and freebies from the Recruiting department. We really enjoyed getting out there with the community! If you’d like to see a Meet-A-Medic Coffee Chat in your area, email us at EMSRecruiting@austintexas.gov.

Bertha Sadler-Mean YWLA (Young Womens Leadership Academy) here in Austin partnered with the Texas Peace Officer’s Association to host a First Responders Career Day earlier this month. ATCEMS Recruiting Ambassadors jumped at the chance to give these young women a glimpse into a career as a medic and first responder. We are passionate about showing our youth that there is more to life beyond the classroom, beyond their circumstances, beyond what they think they cannot do. This was a rewarding opportunity to encourage young women to pursue a job that empowers them AND serves their community at the same time. We took an ambulance for the young women to check out and were lucky enough to have an active crew swing by the event and show off even more tools and equipment! If your school or academy is interested in having ATCEMS Recruiting come out and talk to your students, please let us know. We are always looking for more opportunities to connect with our youth. Email us at EMSRecruiting@austintexas.gov.

ATCEMS Recruiting hit the road to South Texas and Houston last month, visiting multiple campuses (both college and high school). These campus visits are largely focused on EMT and Paramedic programs, or schools that offer a health-science focus. We conducted 11 visits while in Houston, and 4 visits in South Texas, plus a Meet-A-Medic Coffee Chat at a local McAllen coffee shop. Recruiting also visited more local high schools and participated in College & Career fairs. If you’re interested in learning more about a career with ATCEMS once you are a certified EMT-B or Paramedic, connect with us by filling out an interest card. You’ll receive priority notice when we announce new hiring processes and get recruiting updates.
