Kumbh Mela is the ancient fair in the history of mankind. It is celebrated four times over the Intervals of 12 years. If you wanna to see the grandeur and fame of Kumbh Mela, you can witness it in Haridwar, ‘Hari’ is the another title of Lord Vishnu, is also known as Hardwar, or the gateway of Shiva, the Lord of mountains.

Kumbh helds over a time period of 55 days, by the celestial settings, when the Jupitar will be in Aries, the Sun & Moon in Capricorn and Jupitar in Taurus.

According to Hindu mythology, a fight broke among gods and daemons, in the course of samudra manthan (turbulent of the ocean). this manthan was concluded to extract the nector (the Amrit) from the bottom of the ocean. After the completion of extraction, the nector was packed in a Kumbh (a pot). to confiscate the nector from the daemons, the Garudaji (vehicle of Lord Vishnuji) took the Kumbh (the pot) and flew away. Amidst the flight, the drops of the nector were shed at the four places and they are Haridwar, Ujjain, Nashik and Prayagraj. the shed drops made these places and rivers flowing in these cities made holy.

GANGA AARTI

Ganges River is venerated by Hindus in India for assisting life & means of support of the populace since aeons ago. This infamous ghat on the fringe of Ganges River in Haridwar is believed to be the most holy Hindu site. It’s believed that by Lord Shiva & Lord Vishnu visited this place amid the Vedic age. Built by Emperor Vikramaditya in rememberance of his brother, Bhartihari, it’s believed to be the same place where divine Ganges river descends from mounts into the plains. It’s a site for the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti sacrament every evening.

CHANDI DEVI TEMPLE

Constructed by emperor Suchat Singh of Kashmir in the year 1929, the shrine of Chandi Devi situated on the top of Neel Parvat, which’s a three kilometer trek from Chandi Ghat. It’s believed to be the place where Goddess ChandiDevi vanquished over the demon crown Shumbhu-Nishumbha. CLIMATE

Sited in North Indian region, Haridwar relish typical sub-tropical humid climate. Season of winter ranges (November — February). As of its site at the fringe of river Ganges, temperature in Haridwar plunge to around 2℃ amid nights but leviate 30℃ amid the day, depends on the clear skies & direct sunlight. It does not snowfall in Haridwar but the dark fog, mainly in January is usual. While from April — July, it’s Summer in Haridwar & temperatures ranges from around 20℃ to 40℃.

CLOTHING

Pilgrims should respect the local codes of dresses & behavior. The India is conservative in nature, so women should not wear mini-skirts, shorts and barebacked outfit. Pants are permitted. Women should saris or wear skirts to ankles or long pants or Punjabi dresses. No shorts or short skirts are permitted. Women must be completely clothed when they take bathe in the river Ganges. They’ll not be permitted to wear swimsuits. And, have some light weight clothing that can be easily laundered.

Amid January or February, you’ll require sweaters, light woolens, wool wrap, or a light jacket. Dress in the layers, so you can strip off in the warmer days.
