Sited in the Prefecture of Madhya Pradesh in Dhindori, which has distinct Plant Fossils around 40 to 150 Million Years Old. The Fossil National Park spread around 7 Villages covering 2,74,100 sq. meters of area.

In Umaria & Ghugwa, the Fossilized, standind Trunks are known as Angiosperm, Gymnosperm Palms and Monocotes. It is trusted that these Fossils are from Late Jurassic Age.

It was Declared as a National Park in the year of 1983.

In the Park, Visitors can see Fossils displayed in Open Platforms. For Viewers understanding, Informative Notes have been Provided in Written Format. Another Museum can be Witnessed, there Seeds and Leaf Fossils have been Displayed.

HISTORY

The Primordial Fossils of Mandla Plant Fossils National Park mirror the Appearance of the Prefecture over Millions of Years ago. The Park has been Covered with Dense Forests with Semi-Evergreen and Evergreen Forests that are seen in the Western Ghats.

GEOGRAPHY

The Fossils refers to the Mid-Cretaceous Age and Geologist have Alleged that this Occurred due to the Effects of Continental Drift, due to Shift of the Subcontinent Pangea in to Gondwana and Laurasia.

India was a Part of Gondwanaland. The Park sites on Agricultural Fields that have been Cultivated since a long time ago. The Farmers have dug and got these Fossils and have Cast-Off these are Ordinary Rocks and Stones look. Many of these Fossils attempted to Sell this to earn Quick Money.

The Area had the Tropical Climate and the Hypothesis (Conjunctive) of the Scientists is that the Conservation came on with the Climate and the then Large Water Bodies.

PREDOMINANT FAUNA:

Mammals:- Leopard, Wild Pig, Barking Deer, Nilgai, Sambar, Tiger, Gaur, Wild Dog, Chinkara, Hyena, Langurs, Spotted Deers, Cat, Porcupine, Mongoose, Giant Flying Squirrel, etc.

Birds:- Long Billed Vulture, Malabar Pied Hornbill, White-Backed Vulture, Himalayan Griffon Vulture, White Eyed Buzzard, White Throated Kingfisher, Crested Hawk Eagle, Rose-Rings Parakeets, etc.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

The Ideal Time to Visit is October to February, as the Park is Open throughout the Year.
