Really, enough is enough…it is a “no brainer”

There are literally hundreds of reasons why the Bible cannot possibly be infallible or inspired by a perfect and loving God. Here are just a few:

1: The Bible, in its story about the Exodus, would have you believe that 2,500,000 runaway slaves outran the entire Egyptian military who were chasing them on horses and chariots.

That would have created a line over 200 miles long (at eight abreast) not including their animals, that the Bible says were many. Many would have been with babies, pregnant, crippled, blind, or bedridden. Plus, they were said to have been given much treasure from the Egyptians which were used the following year to build a tabernacle.

The story of the Exodus only appears in the Hebrew Bible/the Christian Old Testament and nowhere else. Not in Egyptian history, nor in any other history. Despite decades of extensive archaeological endeavors, not one trace of it has ever been found. Almost all archaeologists, including those in Israel, acknowledge that it could not have possibly happened without significant evidence being left behind; yet not a trace has ever been found, even after numerous and extensive attempts to prove the historicity of this event.

For many more details which make the Exodus an impossibility, including many quotes from Rabbis and Israeli scholars, see here.

2: Deuteronomy 22:28–29 “If a man finds a girl who is a virgin, who is not betrothed, and he seizes her and has sexual relations with her, and they are discovered, then the man who had sexual relations with her shall give the girl’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall become his wife, because he has violated her; he is not allowed to divorce her all his days.”

Millions of young girls are brutally raped every year. Even if for some strange reason, a God wanted to stay concealed, but still loved and cared for them, He could easily call 911.

3: Joshua 10:12–13 tells us that the sun stood still so that his army could finish getting their revenge before it got dark. This is what NASA says would happen if the earth ever stopped spinning, even though their basis physics would be self-explanatory for most of us:

If the Earth stopped spinning suddenly, the atmosphere would still be in motion with the Earth’s original 1100 mile per hour rotation speed at the equator. All of the land masses would be scoured clean of anything not attached to bedrock. This means rocks, topsoil, trees, buildings, your pet dog, and so on, would be swept away into the atmosphere.”

4: Children are taught the following song:

“Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red and yellow, black and white
They are precious in his sight
Jesus loves the little children of the world
Jesus cares for all the children
All the children of the world
Black and yellow, red and white
They’re all precious in His sight”

Yet the Bible clearly teaches that that is not so.

Hosea 13:16: Samaria will pay the penalty for her guilt, because she has rebelled against her God. They will fall by the sword, their children will be slaughtered, and their pregnant women will be ripped open.

Jeremiah 19:9: And I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and the flesh of their daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh during the siege and in the hardship with which their enemies and those who seek their life will torment them.”

1 Samuel 15:2–3: This is what the Lord of armies says: ‘I will punish Amalek for what he did to Israel, in that he obstructed him on the way while he was coming up from Egypt. Now go and strike Amalek and completely destroy everything that he has, and do not spare him; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’

Deuteronomy 28:53: Then you will eat the offspring of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters whom the Lord your God has given you, during the siege and the hardship by which your enemy will oppress you.

And of course, we have the story about God’s world-wide flood after He admitted that He made a mistake in creating humans and drowned every little child, baby, pregnant women, disabled, and all innocent animals except for eight humans and a few animals, many of which were immediately killed and sacrificed. (Genesis 6:6–8)

5: Luke 12:6–7: Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. Matthew 6:26: Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?

The following reveals just how safe birds are from danger in the United States. The figures are from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and are the average between their low and high estimates.

Killed by colliding with window glass… 600,000,000 (six hundred million just in the United States each and every year.) A simple glare free lens, like opticians make for us humans, would have prevented this problem. Killed by colliding with motor vehicles… 214,000,000. Killed by colliding into electrical wires… 25,000,000. Killed by cats…2,400,000,000 (that is 2.4 billion, again, each and every year, just in the United States!) Thus, it seems that both Matthew and Luke were not correct about the relationship that God has with birds.

6: The cure for leprosy is smearing the blood of birds on the walls of a house.

Leviticus 14:49–53 To cleanse the house then, he shall take two birds, cedar wood, scarlet string, and hyssop, 50 and he shall slaughter the one bird in an earthenware vessel over running water. 51 Then he shall take the cedar wood, the hyssop, and the scarlet string, with the live bird, and dip them in the blood of the slaughtered bird as well as in the running water and sprinkle the house seven times. 52 So he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird and with the running water, along with the live bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop, and the scarlet string. 53 However, he shall let the live bird go free outside the city into the open field. So, he shall make atonement for the house, and it will be clean.”

And let us not forget that the Bible also teaches that blindness, epilepsy, and other diseases are caused by demons.

7: Lot, who is called a righteous man in the New Testament (2 Peter 2:7) impregnated both of his daughters, yet the Bible claims that it was the girls who got their father drunk in order to rape him. The Bible claims that Lot knew absolutely nothing about what had occurred. This was shortly after he offered both of them to a gang of sex seeking men. Here it is word for word as the Bible records it in Genesis 19:8:Now look, I have two daughters who have not had relations with any man; please let me bring them out to you and do to them whatever you like; only do not do anything to these men, because they have come under the shelter of my roof.”

This man Lot is declared to be a righteous man according to what many calls “the good book.”

8: The food chain proves that a good god could never have created animals, insects, and other organisms because the vast majority of them must brutally kill and eat each other if they desire to live and feed their babies.

Many say that suffering is the result of the “fall”, yet nothing can possibly justify the requirement that they must live in total fear and then kill if they want to live and feed their babies. Would a smart and all-powerful designer ever design creatures like that when a simple solar panel in their ears would make eating entirely unnecessary?

Those who still believe that the story of Adam and Eve (and the doctrine of “the fall”) was literal should read the many reasons why it cannot possibly be literal and why there was never a “fall.”

9: Despite the hundreds of glaring and unmistakable contradictions contained in the Bible and the many incidents it not only condoned, but also advocated, including slavery, genocide, murder and rape to name just a few, how is it possible that educated people can still claim that a perfect and holy God inspired it? The short answer for most of them is childhood indoctrination and the fear of death and/or the fear of hell. Remember, the Bible says that “Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever” and “I and the Father are one.” Thus, if you believe the Bible, everything that “God” did and said in the Old Testament was being done and said by Jesus. The New Testament even has Jesus believing in a literal Adam and Eve and in Noah’s flood among many other mythologies and cruel absurdities. The apologists and preachers who teach that Jesus and the New Testament did away with the Old Testament are just not right. For more details, click here.

10: God’s conduct and words as recorded in the Bible are not those of a good and loving God. Just a couple examples are:

Deuteronomy 21:10–13: ”When you go out to battle against your enemies, and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands and you take them away captive, and see among the captives a beautiful woman, and have a desire for her and would take her as a wife for yourself, then you shall bring her home to your house, and she shall shave her head and trim her nails. She shall also remove the clothes of her captivity and shall remain in your house and mourn her father and mother a full month; and after that you may go in to her (that means to rape her) and be her husband and she shall be your wife.” (Rape and kidnapping were not only approved by the Bible, but they were expressly authorized as part of God’s Law)

There are literally hundreds of verses that Dan Barker quotes word for word in the following links that are attributes of the God of the Old Testament (and of Jesus who said “I and the father are one”). It is also the Title of his latest book…a must reading for anyone who really wants to know what the Bible has to say.

“The God of the Old Testament is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction; jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving, control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.”

Here is a YouTube video regarding that book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crn1T3Ynx2U&t=69s

If a man says he loves his wife but then kills her because she tried to leave him, did he really love her? If a god says he loves you but will torture you for an endless eternity if you do not love him back, is that really love? Yet, most “Christians” claim that their faith is based on love. Sadly, just like all other religions, it is really based on childhood indoctrination with little or no desire to study or research to determine if there is really a sound basis for keeping it. In other words, by definition, it is nothing but “blind faith.”
