If this doesn’t piss off the patriarchy, I don’t know what will.

It’s no Ghostbusters movie reboot, but men may be angry again pretty soon. Why? An all-female cast of Broadway (and television) stars will play the original male roles in Reginald Rose’s classic Twelve Angry Men.

AND! Get this: The ensemble will include African-American, Latina, Asian, lesbian, septuagenerian, octogenarian, millennial, even Canadian actresses.

Tony Award winner Cady Huffman (The Producers) will direct the company that includes Kathleen Chalfant (Angels in America), Lynn Cohen (The Hunger Games, Sex and the City), Dale Soules (Frieda in Orange is the New Black), Ariana DeBose (Donna in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Jill Paice (An American in Paris), Jenn Colella (Come From Away), Amber Iman (Hamilton), Chilina Kennedy (Carole King in Beautiful), Caitlin Kinnunen (The Bridges of Madison County), Jenn Gambatese (Disney’s Tarzan) and Ana Villafañe (Gloria Estefan in On Your Feet!).

The September 16 staged reading will also serve as a voter registration event. The League of Women Voters will be at the performance to register or update voter information for the coming November 6 midterm elections.

“Rose wrote the original teleplay in1954, some 19 years before women could serve on juries in all 50 states. The female voices remind us how much change there’s been and how much more change is still needed,” stated producer Lauren Class Schneider (who served on the campaign staff of Hillary for America).

The reading has an 8 PM curtain on Sunday, Sept. 16 at Theatre Row (on 42nd Street in New York City). More info is available at 12WomenNYC.com.
