An exciting new collection on Medium

It’s been 2 weeks now that we have launched the 4WD Project on Medium in the form of a free Publication. Its missions are:

  • to promote women travel writers and enhance their visibility,
  • to build a network of pieces, a database of people, that will help us all discover more talents worldwide, especially if they are burgeoning or invisibilized authors,
  • to discuss any issue that revolves around gender, travel, and writing.

14 amazing women have already joined this free, collaborative project, and more are working their way right now to joining it too. In 2 weeks,

  • they have written articles for 4WD,
  • they have copied/pasted into it articles that they wished for their sake to maintain in more visible, prestigious publications,
  • they have written synopses leading to more pieces, whether theirs or those of writers they love.

In 2 weeks, I have myself discovered amazing writers, bloggers, activists and artists.

Now we need more writers to write, we need readers to review books, blogs and short pieces, we need curators, translators,

we need women AND men

who have something to say about gender, travel and writing.

We need more editors as well because I won’t be able to do it all by myself and I don’t wish to: it is not my project, it’s yours, it’s everyone’s. Contact us, play the Medium game: editor4wd@gmail.com

Thank you for supporting 4WD.

Follow 4WD on Medium and social media. Tell it about pieces you’ve read and share the stories you’ve loved.

This week, we’ve traveled to Western Canada, Tunisia, Japan, Missouri, New Mexico, Australia, France, Singapore and Zanzibar. Take us to more places.

And yes, you may have been burning to say this, and we know, and we agree, and please help:

Take us beyond the usual Western + White + English-speaking + entitled view, whether on Travel, Writing or Feminism.

Please take us to your world, through your eyes, in your mother tongue. On the other side of the Earth or at the corner of your street, even if it is only a block away from mine.

Anyone who can read this piece and wants to translate it in their own language to reach more people, don’t ask for our permission: do it.

Thanks.
