Founders in SheWorx are women who embody three core values. We call these the AAA Values: Ambition — We set big goals and push ourselves outside of our comfort zone. Action — We work around constraints and always find a way to get things done. Altruism — We give back to our communities and encourage the success of other women.

Meet Sara, one of the many incredible founders attending the upcoming SheWorx100 Summit.

1. What does your company do?

Happity helps new parents find baby and toddler groups. Fast.

2. What impact are you making? What does this impact look like in 10 years?

We’re solving a desperate need experienced in the early stages of parenthood — reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness, especially amongst mothers. Our public beta was released in just 4 London postcodes and reached 1,000 sessions per week based mostly on word of mouth referral.

I’m also a female founder who only learnt to code and entered tech after becoming a mother — I hope that in 10 years, the success of Happity and my story will inspire many more women to make the shift — particularly for some of us ‘older’ folk who are frequently overlooked by girls-in-tech initiatives!

3. Why are you excited about the SheWorx100 Summit? What is the best part about being in the SheWorx community?

‘Collaboration over competition’. It’s innovative in its approach, and taps into something that women do best!

4. How do you embody the SheWorx AAA Values of Ambition, Action, Altruism?

I won’t let having children stop me achieving my aims in life; in fact quite the opposite — they’ve spurred me on to do more, rather than less.

I’ve seen how motherhood impacts on careers for many, with ridiculous numbers of extremely talented women unable to balance the two together through a lack of opportunity. This is increasingly affecting men too as more of them are taking on the role of primary-carer. I’m taking action against this by building a remote working company, that can create highly flexible roles.

Having kids ought to be the best thing to ever happen to you. Period.

Are you building an incredible company? Join us at the upcoming SheWorx100 Summit in London.
