WW Maker Bytes — Issue 38

We are building amazing features and we want to highlight that work with our stakeholders, you! THANK YOU to our contributors for dedicating their free time to making tech a place where women can excel.

You can follow all of our work on github. Below are a few snippets of our awesome features.

This Week

Our Website

Our repo is private, yet running under an open source license. Instead of pointing to issues and PRs, we are going to include a screenshot of what our weekly pulse looks like.

Existing website contributors, please check out our pulse!

Potential website contributors, please email core-team@womenwhocode.com with your github username to get started. It’s built in Ruby on Rails + React + Postgresql.

Released

This week we’ve been working hard on accessibility by eliminating any colors on the website that would be hard for color blind people to distinguish from others. The core palette now consists of only 5 main colors, which makes our ability to expand and improve functionality much more flexible!

We’ve also made more minor changes to the following: link fixes and resolved stack list UI bug on jobs, enhanced date validations for the CODE Review posts, updated team section on about us page, added new styles for featured events, and most importantly update our documentation. Now we have a CONTRIBUTING to more accurately communicate our guidelines and workflow.

In The Works

WWCode job board plan shift!
We’ve spent that last couple of weeks listening to our customers, both our members (engineers) and employers (companies) about their experience with our job board. We’re starting to implement shifts in the product related to your feedback and will continue to do so over the next few weeks. Subscription based options are on the way!

Thank you for all your support as we continue to make womenwhocode.com the place we go to reach the careers we want.

Applauds!
