Yesterday, April 14, was Equal Pay Day, representing how far into 2015 women have to work to make as much as their male counterparts.I’ve never understood why this has become such a politically polarizing issue in America. I guess because Barack Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, and the right hates Obama, and so the right refuses to accept the wage gap? ¶ I’ve seen the 78% pay gap referred to as a “myth” and a “left-wing lie,” but never in these editorials does anyone offer any substantive evidence to the contrary.Explain It For MeApr 15, 2015

Over half of their multi…-billion dollar revenue number went back into growing the business through sales and marketing channels. Half! Money well spent when you can track it to their impressive growth rate. It makes sense that if you are focused on customer acquisition, put money into marketing. ¶ But what if your goal is talent acquisition? What can recruiters learn from this? How about a woman’s perspective on the Rogue One trailer?
This past day the entire interwebs have been talking about the outraged male response to the Star Wars Rogue One trailer. In case you’ve…been napping under a rock, here is the recap: Rogue One has a female protagonist, as did its predecessor The Force Awakens, and some white dudes feel outraged / betrayed / depressed at the fact that their childhood fantasy is being “ruined by feminazis”. OK. ¶ Now, men’s feelings and needs have always been the most important thing in my life, and I’d like nothing more than to hear again the sad tale of how they used to be the heroes in all the stories, and now they’re only the heroes in most.

When I was 12 my dad forced me to watch the 2009 version of Star Trek, he convinced me that “I would love it” he didn’t know that this…would lead to an addiction. Seven years later I would be in college pursuing a career in Entertainment Journalism and Advertising. One movie (a sci-fi movie) single handily changed my identity. ¶ I know this sounds insane. It actually is insane. But, Star Trek and Sci-Fi in general, shaped me into the person I am today. I know that I got into the game late. That most kids start watching Sci-fi when they're toddlers (I know my children will one day).

If I were to give someone, a young girl advice about her lovers what advice would I give? I would ask her to consider, when is it worth…it all? For me, the first time seemed to be worth it. It hurt like hell and it was pretty awkward, but it was love and it felt real. For some people this stays the same. For others, maybe not. It did not stay the same with me. Lots of things happened after that. There were break-ups, get-back-togethers and even new loves. In fact, it wasn’t until my later-to-be husband and I were together that I felt I learned what the term “making love” seemed to mean.

There are many opinions surrounding the issue of violence against women.
