One of the indispensable things we have to do when building a chatbot is providing the initial knowledge. It may come from crawled data from your FAQs page or manually inputted by yourselves. But the problem is that we cannot prepare all the scenarios to serve all the visitors who have massive demands. That’s why the best ways to build a good chatbot is learn from visitors who show their concerns, problems via chatbot.

FAQs might be a good start but if a business copy it 1-to-1 to their bot, customer experience can be harmed due to the fact that the bot cannot meet the expectation of them. This is because that the language which is used in FAQs is very formal with complex sentences and rarely appears in a normal conversation. For instance, “Does Katalon Studio have access to any of my current local machine data or my application under test when I use Katalon Studio?” contains too much characters and too long for such an asking behavior. Instead of that question, “Do you access any of my data?” may be asked more.

Moreover, let think about another and better source of initial data instead of FAQs, we can see that data collected from our “contact us” form is very useful for the chatbot. It cannot be denied that we can easily address many concerns, problems from that form what help us to build a smarter bot defining visitors’ queries more accurately. The rate of unanswered questions can become significantly lower, resulting in higher satisfaction from visitors.

Last but not least, providing that chatbot fulfill its mission, the existence of FAQs in building chatbot is not so important. If the enterprise is so small and new, and do not have any source of data, implementation of a chatbot could be a huge help to build a knowledge base for a long-term impact.
