Adaptive add-ons & what they accomplish
As it stands right now, Athleticalendar allows you to offer add on services for your listings. Currently you can enter the name of your add ons and give each one an individual price. While that gives you a bit of a chance for offering additional services, we are not satisfied with the lack of flexibility.
We are currently working on some improvements on the add on feature. With the new implementation you will be able to do the following:
- Name the add on
- select a price for the add on
- Choose a duration to meter by
- Choose an amount of the add on to have
The final one is the improvement. With that, you will be able to decide if the charge happens per hour, per day, or per booking. Here is an example of how improved add on flexibility will allow you to make much more off each listing and help your customers get more out of their rental.
If you were in charge of a baseball field and a renter wanted it for 6 hours on a Saturday, and another 6 on Sunday. Your add ons are to mark the lines on the field (once daily) and have umpires for the games (who are paid by the hour). Let say the field costs $100, the line marking is $20 and is done once per day, and umpires cost $25/hour.
With the new improvements, your listing will allow you to have both types of add ons.
- Mark the lines $20
- Umpires $25 per hour per ump
Previously, neither of these would have been available, since the pricing would have been inaccurate because they are not one time fees. However, now your renters could purchase 12 hours over two days, plus the line marking fee, plus 2 umpires for each hour and it will all be automatically calculated into one easy payment.
$100/hour * 12 hours
$20/Field marking * 2 days
$25/Ump/Hour * 24 ump hours (two umps per game)
Under the old way of doing things, you would get $1,200 for your field time and a bunch of extra communication to work out the additional costs via message.
Under the improved way, you will make $1,840 and know immediately that you’ll need to mark the fields and book umpires. Fast, easy, and a better experience for both lister and renter.
This feature is scheduled to be released in the summer of 2020.
