We’ve all heard cookie cutter advice like “work hard” and “don’t give up” a million times.

These “success traits” are often mentioned in today’s mainstream self development material.

Mike Matthews, a 7-figure health and fitness author and 8-figure entrepreneur, credited his success to a less popular success trait when he was interviewed on the Business of Coaching podcast.

Mike says, “Ignore your feelings.”

Feelings can be counterproductive because they are “too malleable.”

The best way to achieve your goals is to go about your business as if your feelings didn’t exist.

Like a robot.

Let’s say your goal is to get into great shape.

This goal requires training and eating a certain way.

So, a reasonable plan of action might be to go to the gym every morning and follow a diet.

You’re excited about your plan and the first couple of days go well.

Then one day, you wake up a little tired. You didn’t sleep well. It’s cold and rainy outside.
