Atomic Robot is founded on the idea that good people can make good things, and together good people can make great things. Working together has lead us on a search for the best collaboration tools. Our design team has discovered and enjoyed working with a version control tool called Abstract. We thought we would share our experience and explain why this tool has dramatically improved our ability to make great things together.

Why We Use Version Control

We can do more efficient better work together than we ever could separately. Collaboration is one of the keys to our success, and tools like Abstract allow us to collaborate easily and enjoyably. We use Abstract to enhance collaboration, and centralize files and libraries.

It’s All in One Place

Need to find that old version of a file from six months ago? Looked everywhere but can’t remember what you named it? Digging for files is not only time-consuming, but frustrating at times. We’ve all been there.

Version control is our solution; a system that records changes to a file or set of files over time. Abstract is designed around this key feature, and offers a great solution to quickly finding that one file.

No More Duplicates

Since we use version control there’s now only need for one file. If you need versions to be edited separately then create a branch!

We Can Work Together

Efficiently, Enjoyably, Effectively. With the ability to branch off of the master project file, multiple team members can work on the same file simultaneously. When you’re done, just merge it back in and you’re good to go.

Centralized Libraries

If you’re anything like us, you have a library of GUI libraries. Super handy in projects, and linking them in Abstract is just as handy.
