Art is a better way to experience something mathematical

What’s music to the ears? Can you distinguish between music made by humans vs that made by AI? I can’t tell, to be honest. Have a listen to the below:

AI in the music industry is nothing new. AI tools such as Google’s NSynth Super, Shutterstock’s Amper Music and Sony’s Flow Machines have been used by musicians to make music or simplify their music-making process.

In part one of our interview with Li Xiao’An, we got to see how a non-technical person gets involved in the development of AI as a subject matter expert. …

The need for non-technical subject matter experts in data science

Known as Xiao’an — Composer, Life Science Husband on LinkedIn, his headline says “Music For Whatever The Hell You Want | AI Solutions To Music Industry Problems”. That got me really curious. What has a composer got to do with AI solutioning?

If you are curious like I am, check out the analytic blogs that he wrote for Musiio. Read on to understand more about how he got involved and what his involvements are in data science.

Huifang: Please tell us about yourself and what you do.

Xiao’an: I am a working composer. I ran an orchestra for five years in Boston and returned to Singapore last year. I’ve been…

The latest version of atoti is big, with many breaking changes. This guide will help you get your notebooks up and running.

Introduction

The latest version of atoti is packed with many changes, from performance upgrades to a new way to run simulations. To deliver this improved experience, we’ve changed the way we do certain things.

Version 0.6.0 introduces the concept of a flexible datastore. This will reduce the starting time on sessions made up of multiple tables. We’ve also standardized our naming conventions, moving away from “stores” to “tables” to better align with language used by SQL and other cloud based database systems.

On top of these changes, we’ve given the ability to duplicate a dashboard page, horizontally resize the filter popover…

Ayodele is very up front about how she made her journey, and is committed to helping others do the same. Plus, why TNG is the best Star Trek of all

When I was first looking at the Ayodele’s content, I was immediately struck by an article she wrote and shared on Towards Data Science. It chronicled her journey from her marketing career to data science — a fairly common type of article. …

Measure simulations and scenarios have been streamlined, allowing for greater flexibility

As part of v0.6.0, we are changing how we handle simulations. Read on for more details.

Measure simulation vs Parameter simulation

In previous versions of atoti, we could set up a function to create a measure simulation via the cube.setup_simulation() function. We’re replacing this with the cube.create_parameter_simulation() function in v0.6.0.

Previously, cube.setup_simulation() arguments for measures were limited to multiply, replace, and add. Because of this, the user was limited to simulating measures via those three mechanisms.

Expect many changes as part of the latest upgrade in atoti, including enhanced performance and improved visuals

As part of v0.6.0, we are making great improvements to the atoti library: better performance, more explicit data handling, and standardization of data storage naming. Read on for more details.

Improved query times and memory usage

Even before getting into any function changes, there are some under the cover changes coming to atoti, delivering a speedier, smoother experience both on the data modelization side and in dashboard visualization. You’ll find measure and hierarchy creation to be smoother and snappier than in previous versions.

Loading data

In previous iterations of atoti, one feature we frequently highlighted was atoti’s ability to first load a sampling of data to streamline your…
