Premium Friday — a campaign launched by the Japanese Government in February this year to promote work-life balance, boost consumer spendings and to battle the national crisis — karoshi also known as death by overwork.

Happily, working for Atrae, we don’t really feel its necessity as we have such a comfortable and an agreeable working style. We can maintain work-life balance and we are indeed far from experiencing karoshi. We don’t overwork, we are just truly fond of working.

So you must have been wondering what’s new in Atrae lately. Well, a couple of months ago we began doing an office activity that’s held once a month on Fridays. We call it ATPF or short for Atrae Premium Friday, our own style of Premium Friday. You might be thinking we get off work and go drinking? not really!

Instead, we work on how to be an ideal organization. ATPF is a 2-hour discourse among the members. First, every one in the office will be gathered together at 4 pm sharp, we will then join our respective groups assigned to us, ( my team of course is an English one ) then we start to share and exchange ideas and opinions on how we can improve and make Atrae a much better organization than we are now.

After the discussion, we will gather once again and a representative will deliver a short presentation about the summary of what has been discussed among the team members. But certainly, it doesn’t end there. We wrap up work and hold our nomikai ( there goes the drinking session! haha) at our favorite space and continue discussing with the members.

As everyone works diligently, I think that this is such a precious chance for us to envision things and consider deeply the issues that need to be addressed for the sake of our growth. This is going to be fruitful.

That’s how we wisely spend our Premium Fridays. How do you spend yours?

Thank you for reading! :)
