The Game Boy Pediatric Sedation Headset, aka PediSedate

The video above contains two important quotes; one is spelled out…

“the following footage contains scenes of a graphic nature. viewer discretion is advised”

… And the other I wrote down, verbatim, regarding the PediSedate…

“a medical device to the doctor, and a toy to the child, the pediatric sedation headset blurs the border between procedure and play”

But yeah, a Game Boy is connected to the helmet, and as the child plays whatever is inserted, nitro oxide is discretely administered until he or she is zonked out. There’s honestly not much else to say, other than it apparently never caught on, hence why I’m only heard about it via the Obscure Media Tumblr.

So I’ll simply add this: that somber (and kinda unsettling imho) ukulele-drive cover of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, for those curious, is by famed Hawaiian musician Israel Kamakawiwoʻole. A friend of mine who’s a mom says the song calms her child down, and maybe that’s the case with other kids, hence its inclusion… again, I find it creepy for whatever reason.
