Decided to sit on the room floor with a drink, he gets into the whole college student mood, ready for the first and last face-to-face interview he has this semester as he is leaving after AUBG switching to online study.

Stefan Leon is a Romanian freshman coming to AUBG this year. He is so excited about the whole experience here, and the pandemic cannot stop him from enjoying it.

He came from Bucharest wanting to major in Psychology and Computer Science. However, some of the courses he is taking this semester open him to more choices of interests. “Macroeconomics … Sullivan is amazing. The course itself is very interesting. It is nothing like what I have expected.” Stefan says. “I might take Economics as a minor.”

The public high school systems in Romania could not give Stefan a vision of what he wants to do. This is the reason why he chose to study in a liberal arts college, the method of education that lets students try out different directions before making their final decision. Coming to AUBG, he wants to find out what he is passionate about, that can later become his career.

Stefan loves music. He plays guitar and enjoys making some melodies in his free time. That is how he ended up being in the Rock Jamming Club. However, he admits that he usually has stage fright, so he used to avoid it a lot. Despite that, he, being convinced by his friend, had a performance for the club. And until now it is still his best day so far being here, he enjoyed the performance, being on stage doing what he likes with his friend. It was, in his opinion, an unforgettable night.

The Leon family has a legacy here. Both his uncle and his cousin studied in AUBG. And he has heard a lot of things about the university before coming here about how lively the campus is. The pandemic, unfortunately, made Stefan unable to fully enjoy this. But the people here, to him, are still the best part here, no matter what. The stray animals here makes him enjoy this place even more. He is somewhat of an animal whisperer, the animals living around this campus always come to follow and play with him.

Because of the pandemic, moving here to study for him means having a long-distance relationship with his girlfriend. “It is challenging, but you will eventually get used to it.” He says. Apart from that, Stefan enjoys his life here. He has a chance to meet cool people and create a lot of memorable moments with them. It makes him look forward to when the pandemic is over so he can enjoy the campus experience fully.

Stefan hopes that his senior self can be a decisive person and knows what he wants to become. After all, this is his reason to choose this university in the first place.
