App Name
Poltreder, private secure photo and video sharing
App name looks great. It has both brand name(Polreder) and keywords(private secure photo and video sharing).
A good brand name is important because it makes it easier for people to find your app.
And you need keywords because they:
- Help you rank better (Keywords in the app name are more valuable)
- Tell what your app does/is
How to make it better:
- Instead of “and” use “&” to save more characters.
- Use “ | ” or “ : ” to separate brand name and keywords.
App Icon
We can break all app icons into three groups.
This is a descriptive app icon. Because it “describes” what the app does/is.
Generally, you should avoid anything descriptive (app name, app icon). Because they don’t work well at small sizes. And it is easy to make a bad descriptive app icon.
Why do some people like descriptive app icons?
The goal of the descriptive app icon is clear. And it is easy to see if you did a good or a bad job.
What about Polreder app icon?
Colors don’t work well with the dark background because they are too saturated. (a small common mistake)
I like how dark the background feels. The style of the app icon looks great. It is a nice icon.
Short Description
Safely share your photos/videos with your friends while preserving your privacy.
Why is a short description important?
- It can help you rank better. Because the short description is a great place to put additional keywords.
- Improve conversion. (Meaning more downloads)
Let’s first talk about keywords:
I did some research and found out that people who search for photo/video sharing also use keywords “family” and “couples”, instead of friends.
Small tip, use Google Play autocomplete, to find keyword ideas.
Improving conversion.
Read your reviews and reviews of competing apps:
What words do users use? What is important to them.
By incorporating words and phrases users use.
You are showing you understand them. You see things as they do.
By showing understanding of their wants/needs they believe you can solve their problems or make things better.
This is just a simple way to improve the conversion with your short description and screenshots.
Screenshots
When it comes to screenshots there are a lot of small things that can be improved.
For the background color, blue or brown make more sense.
Because these colors are associated with trust and safety. There is a good reason why so many big companies like Meta(Facebook), PayPal, Visa, America Express, and many others use blue color.
Search for something:
- Secure
- Private
And you will see a lot of blue.
Why do these things matter?
When it comes to small and less important decisions, feelings and initiation play a huge role in our decisions making.
Because thinking requires time and energy. And in order to make fast decisions, we use feelings and initiation.
Or what Nobel prize winner Daniel Kahneman would call system 1 in his book thinking slow and fast.
The phone frame dominates the screenshots.
It gets too much attention.
Let’s see how I would improve screenshots.
I took a screenshot of the screenshot. That is why it is blurry.
I am not satisfied with how the light behind the screenshot looks. It can be done better.
Other than that:
- It is clear & simple
- It looks great
- It gets attention
