In the latest update to the Aura App, we added the ability to link your Google Photos account. This means you can now browse and select images from Google Photos to send straight to your Aura Frame!
If you’re not familiar with Google Photos, in addition to providing an easy and useful backup for all of those photos on your phone, there are a lot of cool features built into Google Photos to help you navigate and manage your photo collection. Now you can take advantage of all Google Photos has to offer in the Aura App!

Unlimited storage
One of the greatest advantages of Google Photos, especially if you use your phone to take pictures, is freeing up space on your device. With Google Photos you have the freedom to snap away, capturing all those special moments to then share on your Aura (or someone else’s!) without the worry of storage constraints.
Scan old photos and relive your favorite memories
Enjoy all of your photos on Aura, including pre-iPhone memories, by transforming stacks of old printed photos into digitized versions. Google Photos has its own app called PhotoScan which allows you to scan and save your favorite printed photos using your phone’s camera. The app allows you to take glare-free scans and includes an easy step-by-step capture flow; automatic cropping based on edge detection; straight, rectangular scans with perspective correction; and smart rotation. It only takes seconds to scan a photo which is then organized safely and searchable in the Aura App.

Organize your photo library
Google Photos organizes your photos into categorized albums or “Collections” by upload date. Within the Aura App you’ll be able to view your photo collections easily while navigating through thumbnails, organized chronologically according to their date stamped on the photo. Or toggle to view Albums in Google Photos, and enable Aura’s Smart Select feature to let Aura select the best images for your frame. As you continue to add photos to your albums your photos will analyzed and sent to the frame.
Easily transfer photos from a desktop computer
Last but not least, Google Photos has a desktop uploader app which allows users to upload long lost photo libraries from their desktop computer. Coupled with the ability to keep local folders and cloud storage in sync, all the photos that have been uploaded via the uploader app will be available on your mobile device and shareable to your Aura Frame!
