Here comes the raven card served on deck called suicide,

And thousands of people fall captive to this genocide.

It is a growing concern in the streets of our city,

Festering homes with its poisonous popularity.

Like a spider weaving around her intricate webs,

It lays its puppet strings and awaits unwitting prey.

It might come from depression and guilt, people say.

Like a selfish wave taking more than needed as it ebbs.

The causes are many but outcomes so few.

Everything becomes a melancholy gray hue.

Tears would come and self — loathe would burrow

In the cracks of your heart till you’ve become hollow.

It never was a remedy, though it may claim to be.

It doesn’t give solutions to any of life’s mysteries.

It only demands attention to your plate of miseries,

Because it doesn’t want you to consider possibility.

But know that you are never alone in this mental warfare.

If you look around, you would find many people who care.

No one would truly understand your reasons for this choice

But don’t feel burdened to seek help or raise your voice.

Taking deep breaths don’t work here; that’s a lie.

But pain doesn’t always mean its better to die.

You might stumble in the dark but you’ll survive.

Because everyday you still valiantly strive.

Sometimes its hard to breathe and you feel numb,

Never truly feeling like you can handle one more day.

Worries and failures add on to that mental sum

And sometimes you might want to just drift away.

But its alright for you’re here reading this right now,

And even if I cannot tell you when, why, or how,

Know that it never has been your fault at all.

But its time for you to break down your walls.

You aren’t here by mere chance or by mistake.

It was fate; you are meant to see, feel, and take

All that has been yours from the worlds beginning.

And that starts when you fall in love with living.

So stop racing toward making that dreadful choice

Of leaving before you even had the time to rejoice.

Life must’ve been a tiring and messy ride for you today,

But please know that suicide is never the way.
