FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Austin Film Critics Association (AFCA) announced its nominees for the 2017 Austin Film Award today. As a critics group located deep in the heart of Texas, it is important to the AFCA to spotlight not only the best overall films of the year, but to also celebrate the distinguished tradition of films made in and outside of the Lone Star State and/or by filmmakers who call Austin their home during the production of their nominated film.

Among the list of nominees this year are films by directors such as Richard Linklater, Macon Blair, Bob Byington, Ric Roman Waugh, Jason Cortlund, and Julia Halperin.

The winner will be announced along with the winners in all AFCA awards categories on December 29th.

Here are the 5 nominated films in alphabetical order:

Barracuda (dirs. Jason Cortlund and Julia Halperin)
I Don’t Feel At Home in This World Anymore (dir. Macon Blair)
Infinity Baby (dir. Bob Byington)
Last Flag Flying (dir. Richard Linklater)
