2022 Austin Film Critics Association Award Winners

The AFCA presents their winners list for the 2022 awards season, including the top 10 best films

The Austin Film Critics Association (AFCA) announced its 2022 awards today, with Everything Everywhere All at Once leading the way, winning 9 awards from its 11 nominations.

Acting award winners include Michelle Yeoh as Best Actress for Everything Everywhere All at Once, Colin Farrell as Best Actor for The Banshees of Inisherin, with Stephanie Hsu and her co-star Ke Huy Quan taking the Best Supporting performance wins for Everything Everywhere All at Once. The same feature also won the AFCA’s Best Ensemble award.

Other major awards include Charlotte Wells for Best First Film (Aftersun), and Marcel the Shell with Shoes On winning Best Animated Feature and Best Animated Performance (Jenny Slate). All the Beauty and the Bloodshed was awarded Best Documentary, while Decision to Leave won Best International Film.

The winner of this year’s Robert R. “Bobby” McCurdy Memorial Breakthrough Artist Award is Jenna Ortega for her memorable work in The Fallout, Studio 666, and X.

As part of the organization’s annual voting, the Austin Film Critics Association awards titles with local ties — works made by directors who live in Austin. This award is distinct to our group of critics.

2022 Austin Film Award Winner: Descendant
