Our New Member Class of 2018

The Austin Film Critics Association welcomes 5 new members in 2018.

AUSTIN, TX — The Austin Film Critics Association is pleased to welcome five new members to our roster in 2018. A committee of current members was convened to consider candidates, selecting these five critics via a majority vote.

Welcome new members:

Scott Wampler is the News Editor and jack-of-all-trades at Birth.Movies.Death, the official publication of Austin’s own Alamo Drafthouse. He’s been a critic in Austin for 4 years and counting.

Derek Deskins is a film critic for Edge Media Network and Next Projection. He is also a member of the Online Film Critics Association.

Matthew Monagle is a film critic and columnist Film School Rejects and the Austin Chronicle. He’s also the host of the film review podcast, After the Credits.

Jacob Knight is a Senior Contributor at Birth.Movies.Death and a feature writer for /Film. His work can also be found in the newly revived Fangoria Magazine.

Mark Saldana is about to be a 10-year veteran of the Austin film critic community, having served as film critic at True View Reviews since 2009.
