Back in the olden days of 2018, Austin Anthem was legally established as a non-profit with a small steering committee of four executive board members to lead and guide the grackle family forward with a purpose.

Today, our organization looks much different. Austin Anthem is proud to be the independent supporters group with thousands of members in all parts of the globe. We’ve got merchandise that put the finest shops on South Congress to shame. And we’ve done this by putting our community first in everything.

Austin Anthem is more than just a supporters group for matchday. We’re a supporters group for every Austin FC fan, every day, as we have been since 2013.

With that in mind, we’re looking to the future with a bigger, more inclusive leadership committee. To that end, today we’re adding a the position of Member Representative to our board and bringing some new people to the head of the table.

We’d like to welcome Dan Conrad as interim Vice President, Christine Hanley as interim Treasurer, and Chloe Hanson as interim Member Representative. Together with Josh and Traci Babetski, who remain in their positions on the board, these three individuals will work to modernize the Austin Anthem Bylaws in conjunction with the organizational team.

Meet the Interim Board Members

Vice President Dan Conrad is a Project Manager at Indeed, and is for some reason a fan of Manchester United. He previously served as the Vice President of Operations for Austin Anthem, so the title is mostly the same in verbiage but with a whole new realm of responsibility.

Treasurer Christine Hanley is a professional engineer and dachshund wrangler, who supports the other Manchester team as well as the NWSL’s Houston Dash. Christine has been the brains behind the Anthem Merch Emporium as the director of Merchandise. She would like you to buy some of the items on the store so she can get them out of her house.

Member Representative Chloe Hanson is the owner and founder of Find Your Sunshine, an Austin organization dedicated to inclusive development and recreation for Austinites of all abilities. Chloe also serves as the Accessibility Director within Austin Anthem when she’s not making everyone jealous of her dog.

Open Application for the Organization Team

As we expand towards 2021, the new Board recognizes the need to expand our org team. Like a finely tuned machine, we’ve been producing the high quality newsletters, social content, and events worthy of our city and club. But we need your help to go bigger. Today, we’re opening up applications to join our organization team and become a leader of the Grackle family.

Are you great at graphics? An event planning wizard? Maybe you’ve got community connections and want to help us give back? Or, even better, you want to help out, but don’t quite know how.

Whatever you are able to contribute, we’d love to have you on board. Make your mark on the Austin soccer community and build Austin Anthem with us.

Among the perks are access to our org-wide Slack, early access to merch, and the ability to turn ideas into reality at our many different outlets. At the end of it all, though, the biggest perk of all will be at McKalla Place on the first matchday, when we stand 20,000 strong in support of our club — and it was because of something we built together.

How do I join some of the most dedicated soccer organizers in the country, you may be asking. It’s easy: simply fill out this form and we’ll be reaching out directly to get you in the spot that you are most comfortable in.

Austin Anthem is the independent supporters group for Austin FC, Austin’s Major League Soccer franchise, and a member of the Independent Supporters Council.
