MLS in Austin to Austin Anthem: Supporters Group to Launch New Brand

AUSTIN, Texas — MLS in Austin, founded in 2013 with a goal of bringing a Major League Soccer (MLS) team to Austin, will launch its new name — Austin Anthem — logo and brand at a supporters group celebration, which it expects to be the largest gathering of soccer fans in Austin since City Council voted in August to enter into an agreement with Precourt Sports Ventures to construct a soccer stadium at McKalla Place.

In addition to the new name and branding, the group will have Austin Anthem t-shirts available to the first 150 attendees of the event and other merchandise to distribute to attendees. Members of the supporters group Organizational Team will provide remarks on the group’s future vision, commitment to inclusion and volunteer opportunities. The group is the only supporters group for Austin FC, who will also have representatives in attendance with team merchandise.

WHO:

Approximately 200 soccer fans and local community leaders

WHEN:

Saturday, September 29, 4 to 6 p.m.

Official remarks from members of the Organizational Team will begin at 5 p.m.
